Friends Camp: summer 2010

Both Social Skills Friends Camps were an enormous success this summer. We had the honor of having wonderful and uniquely brilliant children filling our two week-long camps of intensive social skills equine group therapy. Thank you to my co-therapist, Brien and to all the horse handlers who assisted throughout these two enriching weeks at Medicine Horse Program.
Friends Group
I have Social Skills Play Therapy groups starting for 8-10 year olds in September. Each session (start dates are 9/9 and 11/4) have an equine component where we have our group session at Medicine Horse. 2 of the 8 sessions are equine.
A Friends Group for Ages 10-12 to start in the Fall as well, likely in October. If you have a child age 5 or 6, there is a possibility of a group for this age as well this Fall
Feel free to contact me to arrange a parent intake session, if you are interested in your child participating in one of my groups. 303.444.9191
Individual Developmental Play Therapy is offered ongoing, and often benefits children preparing to join social skills Friends Groups. My practice is very full, though I do have room for one or two more individual clients during the week, especially children ages 4-6 in preschool, or 1/2 day kindergarten. See August New York Times article on Childhood Depression.
I no longer work on Saturday mornings.
What an honor to join Temple Grandin for dinner at the
Duschambe Tea House this past Spring, as a guest of Boulder Valley Gifted & Talented and ASBC, two wonderful organizations supporting children who have ASD, are gifted and/or twice-exceptional.
Ms. Grandin is second from right in photo. I am on left.

Individual Developmental Play Therapy and Social Skills Play Therapy Groups make up the bulk of my private practice, ages 4 and older. Parent, family and sibling filial play therapy is also a dynamic and useful component of family systems therapy when needed.
SUPPORTING UNIQUE BRILLIANCE
Social Skills Play Therapy Groups for children who are 'twice-exceptional' (gifted w/disability) are ongoing throughout the school year. Find my practice listed or featured here: Boulder Psychotherapy Institute (BPI), IMAGINE!, Autism Society of Colorado, Boulder Chapter (ASBC) and Boulder Valley Gifted & Talented (BVGT) websites, generally under Family Resources. Also partnering with Medicine Horse Program and Mapleton Center for Pediatrics.
